Shepherd's Cottage

sleeps 4

Shepherd's Cottage is a beautifully renovated self-catering holiday home, once used as part of a busy and bustling farm house and now completely self-contained, offering families and couples the perfect retreat on a working family farm.

  • Entry is into a bright and welcoming hall, in a traditional style with antique furnishings.

  • To the left, through french doors is a bright and modern kitchen, fully fitted with hob, oven, chimney hood, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave, with a large breakfast bar/dining area with pendant lighting creating a warm and ambient mood. A high-chair is available.

  • To the rear of the kitchen is a utility area and back entrance/stable-door, complete with hanging space, washing machine and storage space for outdoor gear.

  • The sitting room is to the front of the cottage, facing west with stunning views beyond the gardens, across the fields to the sea and the hills of Arran in the distance. Summer sunsets, and winter snow on Arran paint a moving picture throughout the year, and you will only ever want to draw the curtains when you light the log fire and snuggle in, on the wet and windy evenings that do happen from time to time! Bright but traditional furnishings make this a real place of peace and comfort, and the room is completed with tv, dvd, sky box, Hi Fi with laptop and ipad connectivity CD and radio, Wi Fi connection (slow but useful), Log burner, with logs provided

  • The main bathroom is downstairs, off the main entrance hall, and includes a shower with glazed shower screen over a bath

  • From the hall, stairs lead to two bedrooms. The double room enjoys views through windows both to the west (Arran and the seascape) and to the north (over farmland and hills). The room is furnished in old pine, with plenty of hanging space and an armchair. The twin room is cosy, with dormer window and beds tucked in to the eaves. It has a large built-in hanging space, and an en suite wash hand basin and toilet. A travel cot is available.

  • Outside. There is ample parking space and a large area at the front door for outside eating, complete with table and chairs. Several lawned areas with flower borders are there for you to enjoy with comfy chairs and BBQ.

  • The Cottage is fully equipped ready for you to enjoy your holiday. You will arrive to find a starter supply of all the essentials, from bin bags to salt, loo rolls to shoe polish etc. The house is supplied with central heating and hot water from the biomass wood boiler, and logs will be provided for the wood burning stove in the sitting room. Water is from a private supply, and is fully tested and delicious. Indoor games, outdoor games, fishing rods and a selection of bikes are all here for you to enjoy. We are happy to share our flowers and vegetables from the garden with you depending on the seasons, and our hens have a great reputation of laying eggs with wonderful golden yolks which we hope you will enjoy.

  • Pets: Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome, they must not be left unsupervised in the cottage at any time, nor must they be allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture. If they are wet or muddy after a walk, then we ask that they be brought in the back door and dried and cleaned in the utility room before coming in to the rest of the cottage. Please remember that this is a working farm, and at no time must dogs be allowed loose in areas where livestock are grazing. No other pets are permitted.

  • Shepherd's Cottage, operates a non-smoking policy throughout. Mobile phone signal is limited within the cottage but usually accessible a short walk across the garden.
